Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how Costimator uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the costimator.in website and within the Costimator application. We have intentionally minimized our use of cookies.
Summary: We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or behavioral analytics cookies on costimator.in. Cookies used by the Service are limited to those strictly necessary for the application to function (authentication, security, session management) and to cookieless analytics that count anonymous page views without identifying individual users.
1. What Are Cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. It allows the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are signed in or your preferences.
Other tracking technologies (such as web beacons, pixel tags, or local storage) work similarly. References to “cookies” in this Policy include these similar technologies.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies (Application)
When you log into the Costimator application, we set session cookies that are essential for the Service to work. Without these cookies, you cannot stay logged in or access protected features.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Set By |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Authenticates your active session | 1 hour | Supabase Auth |
| sb-refresh-token | Allows your session to be refreshed without re-login | Until logout or expiry | Supabase Auth |
These are first-party, strictly necessary cookies. Disabling them will prevent you from using the application.
2.2 Cookieless Analytics (Marketing Site)
Our marketing website (costimator.in) uses Vercel Analytics for aggregated traffic statistics — page views, anonymous visitor counts, performance metrics.
Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and does not track individual users across sessions or sites. It cannot identify you and does not build any profile of your behavior. The data collected is aggregated and used only to understand how the website performs (e.g., which pages are most viewed, where load times are slow).
3. What We Don’t Use
We have specifically chosen NOT to use the following on costimator.in:
- Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager
- Facebook Pixel or other social media tracking pixels
- Advertising or remarketing cookies (Google Ads, Meta, etc.)
- Behavioral analytics or session recording tools (Hotjar, FullStory, etc.)
- Third-party tracking cookies of any kind
We may add additional analytics tools in the future. If we do, this Policy will be updated and a cookie consent mechanism will be introduced where required by law.
4. Cookies Within the Costimator Application
When you log into the Costimator application, the cookies described in Section 2.1 (strictly necessary, set by Supabase Auth) are used. The application does not set any tracking cookies for marketing or analytics purposes.
Product analytics inside the application (such as how many estimates you have created, how often you log in) are recorded server-side against your account, not via cookies. This usage data does not require cookies to track.
5. How to Manage Cookies
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:
- Block all cookies
- Block third-party cookies only
- Clear existing cookies
- Set the browser to ask for permission before setting cookies
Specific instructions vary by browser:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to log into the Costimator application. The marketing website (costimator.in) will continue to work normally because it does not require cookies.
6. Do We Show a Cookie Consent Banner?
No. Because the Costimator marketing website uses only cookieless analytics (Vercel Analytics), and the application uses only strictly necessary cookies for authentication, we do not display a cookie consent banner.
Under both Indian and international privacy frameworks, consent is required for non-essential cookies (advertising, analytics tracking, etc.). Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. Because we do not use non-essential cookies, no consent mechanism is needed.
If we add tools that use non-essential cookies in the future, we will introduce a cookie consent mechanism at that time.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, particularly if we change the analytics or tracking tools we use. The “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy reflects when changes were made.
Material changes (such as introducing new cookies, switching analytics providers, or adding tracking technology) will be communicated through the website and, for active users, by email.
